Introduction to Cutaneous Lymphomas, other subtypes, diagnosis and staging

Speakers: Antonio Cozzio, Susan Thornton

Professor Antonio Cozzio is Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, Venerology and Allergology in the Kantonsspital St. Gallen, Switzerland. He began his medical education in paediatrics and surgery before completing a PhD program with Professor Charles Weissman in Zürich. After a postdoctoral period of three years at Stanford University Medical School he successfully completed his dermatology residency in Zürich with Professor Günter Burg. He became head of the Department of Dermatology in St. Gallen in 2016.

Professor Cozzio is currently member of the board of directors of the ISCL (International Society for Cutaneous Lymphoma), has served as secretary for the board of the Cutaneous Lymphoma Group of the EORTC and is a founding and board member of the Swiss Group for Cutaneous Lymphoma. His principal research and clinical interests are immunodermatology and immunotherapy of skin disorders, including cutaneous lymphomas.

Susan Thornton serves as the CEO of the Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation, a worldwide nonprofit that empowers, educates and supports people diagnosed with this rare cancer.  In addition, she serves as Board Chair for the Lymphoma Coalition and has held leadership positions as Vice Chair of the International Alliance of Dermatology Patient Organizations (IADPO) and Vice Chair of the Coalition of Skin Diseases. She also served on the planning committee that hosted the first International Dermatology Patient Organization Conference held in Vancouver, BC and was a founding member of IADPO.

Prior to joining the CLF in a professional capacity, Susan served on the Board of Directors and provided consulting services to the Foundation.  Her professional career before coming into the nonprofit sector, was in healthcare technology where she spent over 25 years in various consulting, marketing and sales positions.

Susan holds a business degree from The University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and completed the Non-Profit Certification Program at the University of Pennsylvania.  In addition to her CLF Board service, she served on the boards of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter, Tristate Multisport Association and the Sierra Club, Philadelphia Chapter.  A native of Philadelphia, Susan has completed 17 triathlons, including a 1/2 Ironman in 2004, raising money for cancer research.
